Tullie Textiles
Left in the capable hands of professional textile artist, Helen Walsh, learn some new techniques each month. We’ll also be selecting an ‘Object of the Month’ from our textiles collection for you to get a closer look at, with a chance for discussion with other textile enthusiasts.
Tullie Textiles is held in the City Hall Studio on the second Sunday of the month.
13:30pm – 15:30pm
Sessions are always popular, so booking is essential.
Sunday 14th June 2026: Silk Paper: Try a quick and easy way of making silk paper, is it a paper or is it a textile?
Sunday 12th July 2026: Corded Quilting: Inspired by Trapunto and Boutis Quilting we'll have a go at using cords, yarn and stuffing to make raised designs on fabric.
Sunday 9th August 2026: Knotty Stitches: This month we're having a go at some knot stitches, such as bullion and French knots, to add texture to our work.
Sunday 13th September 2026: Kantha Inspired Stitching: We're celebrating the humble running stitch this month and being inspired by Kantha stitching to create some beautiful and mindful designs.
Sunday 4th October 2026: Button Up: In this session we'll have a go at making our own buttons using a combination of fabrics, stitch and maybe a bead or two! Please note that this session is held in the FIRST Sunday of October due to staffing.
Sunday 8th November 2026: Crazy Patchwork: Popular with the Victorians, we'll have a look at this patchwork technique which is great for using up scraps of fabric and practising or embroidery stitches.
Sunday 13th December 2026: A bit of Bling! It's festive season so we're breaking out the sequins, beads and buttons and going all out for embellishment. You can make a decoration or just enjoy the sparkle!
