POLYSTYRENE: I AM A CLICHE film screening

POLY STYRENE: I AM A CLICHÉ (96 mins) 12+

Film start time - 6.15pm

Film finish time - 7:51pm

Woman UP chat until 9pm

Poly Styrene was the first woman of colour in the UK to front a successful rock band. She introduced the world to a new sound of rebellion, using her unconventional voice to sing about identity, consumerism, postmodernism, and everything she saw unfolding in late 1970s Britain, with a rare prescience. As the front-woman of X-Ray Spex, the Anglo-Somali punk musician was also a key inspiration for the riot grrrl and Afropunk movements.

After the film, we invite you to stick around for a chat about the themes of the film and to learn more about how you can get involved in Woman UP or Young Woman UP.

FREE / Booking required / Limited refreshments
